A Major Exciting Event on the Temple Mount

An Ancient Hebrew Inscription is Found Dating from the Ninth Century BCE Describing Temple Repairs by King Jehoash of Judah

The most important and exciting archaeological discovery in the history of the land of Israel and Jerusalem was recently made on the Temple Mount. It was an inscription written on a black stone by the descendant of David, King Jehoash of Judah, who ruled in Jerusalem at the end of the ninth century BCE.

The inscription includes ten verses of Scripture and describes the repairs made to the Temple by the king during his reign. It is written in the first person. The king describes the repairs that he made to the Temple exactly as it is recorded in the Tanach in 2 Kings 12 using the same words. It thus confirms what the Tanach records about the matter.

The inscription was validated over a long period of time by two major scientists from the geological institute in Jerusalem who confirmed its dating. Dr. Gabi Barka'i, one of the most important archaeologists in Israel, stated that the discovery is unprecedented. It is one of the most ancient testimonies outside of the Scriptures which substantiates the occurrences in the Tanach as we know it today. Dr. Barka'i was also responsible for the discovery and publishing of the tablets of the Priestly Blessing which were found on the shoulder of the Hinnom Valley in Jerusalem. He stated that such a dramatic discovery of the writings of King Jehoash is the first and very important testimony outside of the Scriptures which testifies to the existence of the First Temple.

The research relating to the inscription was undertaken jointly by Dr. Shimon Ilani, a geo-chemist and an expert in archaeometrics, and by Dr. Amnon Rosenfeldt, another important expert who has undertaken much research together with the archaeologists. The major expert of the geological institute, Michael Dvorcheck, performed special checking of the inscription using an electron-microscope and he confirmed the authenticity of the inscription. The details of the research will be published shortly.

The royal inscription was found by Arabs during their excavations on the Temple Mount over the last years when they tried to destroy all evidence of the Jewish identity of the Temple Mount and the existence of the Temple on this hill. When they started these excavations The Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement made all efforts and activities, including petitions to the Israeli Supreme Court, to stop this barbaric destruction of the most holy place of the Jewish People. We warned the Israeli Authorities about the terrible damage to the remains of the First and Second Temples and the desecration of the House of G-d. Unfortunately the weakness of the Israeli Government — which did not want to challenge the Arab criminals on the Temple Mount because of fear of Arab and Islamic reactions — brought the Temple Mount to this extremely sad situation of destruction. The story of this inscription is one of the many results of the terrible damage that they caused on the Temple Mount. even today we still do not know what they discovered during their diggings and what they did with these discoveries. We are sure that important discoveries were taken from the Temple Mount. We pray that the most important and holy of remains were not found by them.. The Temple Mount Faithful Movement continues and will do so even more intensively in the future to undertake her struggles and activities to stop this barbaric destruction and to remove this enemy of the G-d and people of Israel from the most holy Temple Mount.

The way in which the Arabs on the Temple Mount handled the discovery of the inscription was also terrible, with no respect given to it and its holiness. They merely sold it to a collector of antiquities in Israel. It was a godly miracle that it was not sold by them to Arabs or other collectors outside Israel. In this way the inscription remained in Israel and its story could be shared with all the people of Israel and the world. It was only G-d Who closed an historical circle between one of the righteous kings of Judah and his people, Israel, in our endtime generation. It is no accident that this dramatic discovery was made at this time so close to the climax of the godly redemptional process of Israel when the Third Temple is soon to be built. This is a message from the G-d of Israel to the people of Israel to do what King Jehoash did and to repair and rebuild the Temple. This is the most important and exciting point of this discovery. We pray and will do everything possible to ensure that the Israeli Government and people will understand and accept this godly message and will do what G-d expects — immediately build the Third Temple.

With regard to the stone on which the inscription was written, the opinion is that it was brought from southern Trans-Jordan (a part of the land of Israel) or from the area of the Dead Sea. The writing is in ancient Hebrew script. In the middle of the stone is a crack. In the crack, and also among the letters, specks of gold were found. It is the assumption of the experts from the geological institute that these specks are the result of a smelting event and it may belong to the terrible event of the burning of the Temple a few hundred years later. This and other material which covers the stone show that the writing was buried between the years 400 to 200 BCE. This means that it was exposed and uncovered for only 500 to 600 years after it was written. This fact gives the timing of the inscription which fits the time of King Jehoash — the end of the ninth Century BCE.

The inscription is described by the experts as a sensational archaeological criterion which will have great significance for Israel and all the world. This royal inscription of King Jehoash glorifies and exults the repairs undertaken by the king exactly as it appears in 2 Kings 12:7-17, including the call of Jehoash on the priests to raise donations from the Jewish populace for his project to restore the First Temple. It also describes the buying of the wood and stones needed for the repairs. It is most important to bring to everyone's attention this holy inscription as it appears in the Tanach and on the stone:

"But it was so, that in the twenty third year of king Jehoash the priests had not repaired the breaches of the house. Then king Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and the other priests, and said to them, 'Why do you not repair the breaches of the house? Now therefore receive no more money from your acquaintances, but deliver it for the breaches of the house'. And the priests agreed to receive no more money from the people, nor to repair the breaches of the house. But Jehoiada the priest took a chest, and bored a hole in its lid, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one comes into the house of the L-rd; and the priests who guarded the door put in there all the money that was brought to the house of the L-rd. And it was so, when they saw that there was much money in the chest, that the king's scribe and the high priest came up, and they counted and tied up in bags the money that was found in the house of the L-rd. And they gave the money, that was counted, to the hands of the workmen, who supervised the house of the L-rd; and they paid it out to the carpenters and builders, who worked upon the house of the L-rd. And to the masons, and the stone cutters, and to buy timber and quarried stones to repair the breaches of the house of the L-rd, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it. But there were not made for the house of the L-rd bowls of silver, snuffers, basins, trumpets, any utensils of gold, or utensils of silver, from the money that was brought to the house of the L-rd; But they gave that to the workmen, and repaired with it the house of the L-rd. And they did not ask an accounting from the men into whose hand they delivered the money to be paid to the workmen; for they dealt in good faith. The money for guilt offerings and the money for sin offerings was not brought to the house of the L-rd; it was delivered to the priests." (2 Kings 12:7-17)

I feel and know that this exciting godly message of King Jehoash was found and directed to our generation. It is so real and these holy words speak to everyone of us. The call of King Jehoash — "Why do you not repair the breaches of the house?" — is a call to our generation. This is the challenge that the G-d of Israel gave to our generation exactly as He gave it to the generation of the First Temple when they did not repair it and when they were not courageous enough to build the Second Temple. G-d sent King Jehoash in his time and the prophet Haggai at the time of the Second Temple and gave them His clear call through His prophet:

"Thus speaks the L-rd of hosts, saying, This people say that the time has not yet come, the time that the L-rd's house should be built. Then came the word of the L-rd by Haggai the prophet, saying, Is it time for you, yourselves, to dwell in your well timbered houses, while this house lies in ruins? And therefore thus says the L-rd of hosts; Consider your ways. You have sown much, and bring in little; you eat, but you have not enough; you drink, but you are not filled with drink; you dress yourself, but there is no warm; and he who earns wages earns wages to put it into a bag with holes. Thus says the L-rd of hosts; Consider your ways. Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, says the L-rd. You looked for much, and, behold, it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why? says the L-rd of hosts. Because of my house that lies in ruins, and everyone of you runs to his own house. Therefore the heaven above you have withheld the dew, and the earth has withheld its produce. And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the grain, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground brings forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labor of the hands. Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the L-rd their G-d, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the L-rd their G-d had sent him, and the people feared before the L-rd. Then Haggai the L-rd's messenger spoke the L-rd's message to the people, saying, I am with you, says the L-rd. And the L-rd stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked in the house of the L-rd of hosts, their G-d," (Haggai 1:2-14)

This is the same call that is answered and carried by The Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement. The call that G-d sent through King Jehoash and the prophet Haggai is the same call to our generation. We shall not give up this holy campaign until the people of Israel do what the people did in the time of King Jehoash and the prophet Haggai in obedience to this most important Word of G-d. We are living in G-d's timing and I have no doubt that the Temple will be rebuilt soon in our time exactly as it was repaired at the time of King Jehoash and built at the time of the prophet Haggai. This most important event is a prerequisite for all the other major prophetic endtime events which are going to take place in the near future, mainly the coming of Mashiach ben David and the establish of the kingdom of G-d, not only in Israel, but from Jerusalem, the capital of the G-d and people of Israel. It will go out and cover all the world exactly as the prophet Isaiah shared this Word of G-d with our generation and all the generations:

"The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the L-rd's house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. And many people shall go and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the L-rd, to the house of the G-d of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths; for from Zion shall go forth Torah, and the word of the L-rd from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among the nations, and shall decide for many people; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, nor shall they learn war any more. O house of Jacob, come, and let us walk in the light of the L-rd." (Isaiah 2:1-5)

This major godly event cannot be prevented or delayed, not even by the weakness of our generation. This is G-d's decision for our generation and whether we want it or not, it will be done. I know that all the problems and troubles that our generation is experiencing are a result of the weakness and hesitancy of our generation that sometimes feels "that the time has not yet come, the time that the L-rd's house should be built". The results of this weakness are the same as those described by the prophet Haggai. We should listen to this dramatic and exciting message that G-d is now sending to our generation through King Jehoash, sayinf "this is the time to build the House of G-d". Only the rebuilding of the House will bring an end to the troubles and terror in Israel, and bring godly peace all over the world. Everyone in Israel and all over the world is called on to be a part of this. This is the task of the people of Israel, to build His Temple exactly as He called on Israel in His prophetic Word to build a House for Him on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem: "And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them" (Exodus 25:8). It is also time for everyone in the world to stand with the Temple Mount Faithful Movement and Israel, to help them and to encourage them to fulfil their task. The endtime Temple will be a house of prayer for all nations: "Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon my altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples" (Isaiah 56:7). No one in Israel or anywhere in the world is allowed to stand by passively before this most important project of all times.

Blessed are those in Israel and all over the world who today are standing with the Faithful Movement and have a part in this holy campaign and project. Blessed will be those in Israel and all over the world who will also hear the call of G-d to our generation and join the Faithful Movement to stand, to help and to encourage her to fulfil this major godly task of all generations. What a privilege it is and everyone is called on not to miss it.
