According to NASA, the United States' aerospace agency, a tetrad of lunar eclipses, or more simply put "four blood moons with four dark suns" is taking place, with the first one occurring on the Jewish Passover on April 15, 2014, and again on Passover, April 4, 2015. The tow other occurrences will appear on the Feast of Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) on October 8, 2014 and again on September 28, 2015.
It is definitely not an accident that all of these unusual heavenly phenomena have occurred at significant times in the history of the Jewish people and that a lunar tetrad will occur again in 2014 and 2015 on specific holidays on the Jewish calendar. We have to ask ourselves what is the meaning of these extraordinary heavenly spectacles that coincide with important major events concerning the Jewish people and even the newborn State of Israel?
We are currently living in a very special and unique time-period in the history of Israel and of the world. The prophets of Israel refer to this period of time as the "end-times". The original Hebrew understanding of the words translated into English as "end-times" does not mean the end of the world or the end of humanity. The prophets prophesied that the "end-times" will be a time of judgment upon the nations that have persecuted the people of G‑d, Israel, during a history of more than 4,000 years, including our own time. Within these prophetic words are parallel prophecies that also describe the time of redemption of the people of Israel and the redemption of the entire world through Israel. Jerusalem will again become the eternal capital of the G‑d and the People of Israel, where G‑d will dwell amongst His People and from Jerusalem He will judge and reign over all the world.
The G‑d of Israel oftentimes spoke to the people of Israel, and even to the world, by giving signs through the movements of the sun and the moon and other heavenly bodies. Thus says G‑d when He speaks about the redemption of His People Israel and about the time of judgment upon the nations that persecuted Israel and about the eternal nature of His covenant with His "beloved wife", Israel:
"Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, who stirs up the sea that its waves roar; the LORD of hosts is His name: 'If those ordinances depart from before me, says the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me forever.'" (Jeremiah 31:35-36)
The prophet Joel also prophesies about the end-time day of judgment upon the nations who persecuted Israel throughout history and those who do so during these end-times. At the same time he prophesies about the redemption of the people of Israel and the re-establishment of the Holy Temple of G‑d on Mount Zion on the Holy Temple Mount, where He will again dwell in Jerusalem, His eternal capital and the capital of His People Israel. Furthermore, Joel is the prophet who prophesies in the Name of G‑d by describing the sun and the moon and the heavenly bodies that will become darkened and blood red and shaken. He charts out the terrible events that will happen on the earth before and during the godly day of judgment. He also tells what will happen as G‑d orchestrates the complete redemption of His People Israel:
"Blow the shofar in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD comes, for it is near at hand.... The earth quakes before them; the heavens tremble: the sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining.... And I will exhibit wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and terrible day of the LORD.... For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring back the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshafat, and will enter into judgment with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and have divided up my land.... The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining. And the LORD roars out of Zion, and utters his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shake: but the LORD will be a shelter for his people, and a stronghold for the children of Israel. So shall you know that I am the LORD your G‑d dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and no strangers shall pass through her any more.... But Judah shall remain for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation. And though I have acquitted them, those who shed their blood I have not acquitted; and the LORD will dwell in Zion." (Joel 2:1,10;3:3-4;4:1-2,15-17,20-21 [Christian Bible: Joel 2:1,10,30-31;3:1-2,15-17,20-21])
As we read the prophet Joel, he informs us about both the celestial and the terrestrial realms. He speaks about heavenly bodies in the sky and also about judgment upon nations that persecuted Israel and divided her land. Let us review what happened during these past times of lunar eclipses.
In the years 1493 and 1494 a tetrad of lunar eclipses appeared when the Jews were expelled from Spain and the edicts of the Inquisition persecuted the Jews of Spain, even the Jews who were forced to convert to Christianity. The meaning of this heavenly event, according to the prophet Joel, was the judgment of G‑d upon Spain and the Catholic Inquisition. At the same time it was a call to the Jews about the redemption to come. It is not an accident that Columbus was a Jew and that many Jews that were persecuted by the Spanish Church escaped to the Americas where they found refuge. I am sure that the call of G‑d to them was to go back to the Promised Land. Indeed, some of them journeyed and settled back in the Land of Israel and many others were stopped by the Turkish authorities in Turkey and Greece and were not allowed to enter the Promised Land.
The next tetrad of lunar eclipses happened in the years 1949 and 1950. It was immediately after the Jewish people were redeemed and regathered back to the Promised Land. The State of Israel was reborn after almost 2,000 years of exile. Thousands of Jews were regathered "on eagles' wings" (Exodus 19:4) back to the Land of Israel. It was the fulfillment of end-time prophesy and one of the greatest godly events in the life of Israel, and even in the entire world. At the same time seven Arab nations attacked newborn Israel from every side and were then harshly judged by the G‑d of Israel when they all suffered horrendous defeat. This was a fulfillment of Joel's end-time "dark sun and red moon" — G‑d's judgment upon the Arab nations coupled with the redemption of His People Israel.
The same kind of heavenly lunar event that occurred in the years 1967 and 1968 was linked to the Six Day War. During this war Israel was again attacked from every side by Egypt, Jordan, and Syria, and just as in the earlier Independence War the Arabs had the backing of many nations and powers throughout the world. The Six Day War was again a time of major redemption of the People and the biblical Land of Israel. As in 1948, and as in biblical times, the G‑d of Israel appeared in the fields of battle and gave to His People Israel the greatest victory in more than 4,000 years of the history of the people of Israel. In the climax of this war the G‑d of Israel liberated the Holy Temple Mount, biblical Jerusalem, and the most biblical areas of the Land in Judea, Samaria, Gaza, Sinai, and the Golan Heights. During this war, just as in 1948, the Israeli soldiers in the fields of battle were witnesses of the appearance of the G‑d of Israel when He fought together with them and performed great miracles as in during biblical times. In only six days all of the Arab forces were judged and terribly defeated. Actually, they were defeated in just three hours when all of their military aircraft, together with the Soviet aircraft and pilots that participated together with the Arab forces against Israel, were all completely destroyed by the Israeli air force during the first morning of the battle. Again the words of prophesy spoken by the prophet Joel became a reality.
As NASA reported "four blood moons and four dark suns" will occur on the Jewish Passover on April 15, 2014 and April 4, 2015 and again on the Feast of Sukkot (Feasts of Tabernacles) on October 8, 2014 and September 28, 2015.
Let us interpret these unusual heavenly events according to the prophesy of the prophet Joel. April 2014 will mark the completion of nine months of negotiations between Israel and the so-called "Palestinian Authority". These negotiations were carried out under pressure from the President of the United States, Mr. Barack Obama, and his Secretary of State, John Kerry, along with the European Union, Russia, the United Nations organization, and the Arab and Islamic nations — all of whom want to force Israel to establish a foreign, so-called "Palestinian state" in the heart of the Land of Israel, which was given by G‑d to His People Israel only for a godly purpose. Their intention is to divide the Land of Israel and establish there a state for the greatest enemy of Israel. A "Palestinian people and a Palestinian state" never before existed in the Land of Israel nor in any other place in the world. The Land of Israel was given by G‑d to His People Israel only in an eternal covenant in order to build the Kingdom of G‑d where Israel will be "a light to the nations" (Isaiah 42:6;49:6). G‑d warned Israel, and even the nations, that this Land will never be negotiable or divided for foreigners and enemies.
It is not an accident that the blood moons and the dark suns will appear on Passover 2014 and 2015. This is the holiday of freedom for the people and the Land of Israel when the G‑d of Israel led the exodus of His People from slavery in Egypt to freedom in the Land of Israel, from any foreign presence and control. According to the prophesy of the prophet Joel, the dark sun and red moon signal an urgent warning from G‑d to all the nations that pressure Israel to divide her Land. It is a warning from G‑d about His coming judgment and that the Land of Israel is not negotiable and can never be divided. It is also a warning from the G‑d of Israel to Israel's leaders to immediately stop all negotiations that will divide the Land of Israel or that will establish another enemy state. At the same time it is no doubt a sign of redemption for Israel, which means that G‑d is encouraging His People not to fear any one of the nations who now pressure Israel but rather to trust only Him. G‑d is encouraging His People Israel that their redemption is soon to be completed and as the prophet Joel prophesied that soon the Holy Temple will be built on Mount Zion on the Holy Temple Mount and G‑d will dwell again amongst His People Israel in the place that He chose thousands of years ago.
According to the prophet Joel the blood moons and dark suns on the Feasts of Sukkot 2014 and 2015 indicate again judgment upon the nations that continue to pressure or to fight against Israel in order to destroy her, such as Iran, who prepares herself "to remove Israel from the map of the world". The Sukkot holiday also commemorates redemption and the exodus from slavery to freedom for Israel, the people of G‑d. More than this, on the Feast of Sukkot King Solomon, the son of King David, dedicated the First Holy Temple for the G‑d of Israel on the Holy Temple Mount in Jerusalem. In his dedication prayer King Solomon said that the Holy Temple would also be a place for the people from the nations who would come to prayer to the G‑d of Israel. I have no doubt that these heavenly events are a clear call to Israel to not wait any longer, to not fear any human beings or nations in the world, and to remove the enemy and immediately build the Third Holy Temple of G‑d so that G‑d will again dwell on Mount Zion in Jerusalem among His People Israel and the entire world. This is also a godly statement and warning to all of those nations that we mentioned to not dare make biblical Jerusalem a "Palestinian" capital or an international capital. This is a statement from G‑d to the entire world that Jerusalem will be forever be the eternal capital of the G‑d and People of Israel.
G‑d is calling all the nations to recognize this decision of G‑d. He is calling them to recognize that the Holy Land He gave to Israel can not be divided and was given forever only to His Chosen People Israel for a godly purpose: "to be a holy nation, a kingdom of priests and a light to the nations" (Exodus 19:6). If the nations will do so, the redemption of Israel will also become their own redemption, exactly as G‑d prophesied through His prophets Isaiah and Micah:
"And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. And many people shall go and say, "Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the G‑d of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths; for from Zion shall go forth Torah, and the Word of the LORD from Jerusalem. And He shall judge among the nations, and shall decide for many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, nor shall they learn war any more... But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of Hosts has spoken it." (Isaiah 2:2-4, Micah 4:1-4)
