A Building Dating to the Hasmonean Period Discovered in the City of David

Another Exciting Appearance of G‑d Among His People Israel during Chanukah 2013 at This Great Time of Redemption of the People and Land of Israel

During two thousand years of the destruction of the Land of Israel, the biblical remains of the destruction have remained hidden under the ground of the Land. The enemies of Israel who destroyed the Holy Jewish Temples, Jerusalem, and the rest of the Land of Israel could not destroy or remove this biblical evidence that the G-D of Israel and our fore-fathers kept protected for the end-time era of Israel. It was kept for a time, such as the present, when the enemies of Israel and their allies all over the world deny the eternal godly link of Israel with the Land. They also deny that this Land was given by G-D to His Chosen People Israel forever in order to fulfill a godly mission among the nations. The Holy Book of G‑d — the Tanakh (Bible) — was, is, and will forever be the most important and valuable evidence of this fact and the covenant that G‑d made forever with His people Israel and the Land that He gave to them. However, the G‑d of Israel and our forefathers planned to also keep tangible evidence, the physical remains of the destruction still hidden underground, to open the eyes of the entire world so that they can recognize that this Land belongs solely to the People of Israel. These underground archaeological remains are especially important in the present time when physical evidences are unfortunately more important for most of the world than the Holy Word of G‑d itself. During this exciting time of the redemption of Israel these biblical remains that lay underground throughout the Land of Israel, especially those located on the Holy Temple Mount and in Jerusalem, deliver a distinct and clear message from G‑d to His People Israel to wake-up and return to their ancient scriptural heritage — to become once again a biblical nation who fulfills her biblical mission among the nations.

Indeed, in the coming time we shall share with everyone about some of these exciting evidences and discoveries. Many of the exciting and important remains have been discovered all over Jerusalem, in the holy ground of the Holy Temple Mount, and in the ancient City of King David, who was the greatest and most beloved king of his people Israel. These momentous remains are also a clear godly message to the enemies of the G‑d and People of Israel, along with their allies worldwide who continue to deny the deep historical connection between G‑d, His People Israel, and the Holy Land He gave to them forever.

The Archaeological Excavations at Chanukah 2013

A large building from the Hasmonean age, the second century bce, was recently discovered in the City of David during the diggings done by the Israel Antiquities Authority. What was so profoundly special about this recent discovery, and not by accident, is that it was found a short time before the Chanukah holiday. It was then presented to the People of Israel during Chanukah 2013 as a gift from the G‑d of Israel to His People. It was a very clear message from G‑d to the entire world that the Holy Temple Mount, Jerusalem, and the Holy Land belong only to His People Israel and were given by Him to the Children of Israel in an eternal covenant. May the world understand that Israel's roots are still under the ground of the Holy Land waiting for G‑d's People Israel to raise from these roots once again the great tree of the kingdom of the G‑d and People of Israel in the Holy Land.

It is not an accident that this Hasmonean building was discovered at a critical time when the Arab and Islamic enemies of the G‑d and People of Israel, along with their supporters and allies all over the world, are pressuring Israel and declaring that the Holy Temple Mount, Jerusalem, and the Holy Land of Israel do not belong to the People of Israel. The Hasmonean building discovered near the Holy Temple Mount in Jerusalem along with other significant biblical remains come at the right time to say to those enemy nations: "How dare you deny G‑d and His historical decision to give the Holy Land to His People Israel only? How dare you deny what G‑d presented to you in His Holy Book, the Bible? How dare you to rebel against G‑d and His Holy Word?" The Hasmonean building, along with other exciting biblical remains (which we shall share with you in the near future) that have been and continue to be discovered in the Land of Israel, delivers another clear message from G‑d to the entire world that the Holy Temple Mount, Jerusalem, and the Land of Israel belong to His Chosen People Israel only and that this testimony of the Word of G‑d can never and should never be denied.

The recent discovery of the Hasmonean house was an exciting appearance of the G‑d of Israel among His People during a time when it was so needed. Everyone in the world should know that G‑d is again with His People Israel, to watch over and care for them. Day by day Israel experiences the appearance of G‑d in the life of His People in the Holy Land. Israel is experiencing an exciting prophetic time that has never before occurred during the last 4,000 year history of the People of Israel. We feel the presence of G‑d in everything that we are doing in the Land. Israel does not fear any of her enemies or their supporters and their allies. Israel relies upon and trusts only the Almighty G‑d of Israel and the universe. Whom shall we fear if G‑d is with us and among us?! Whom shall we fear if G‑d promised to His People Israel that He put watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem and in the Land of Israel and that His eyes and attention are all over His Land and People day and night?

"I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, who will never hold their peace day or night: you that make mention of the LORD, take no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes, and till he makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth. The LORD has sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no more give thy corn to be food for thy enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink thy wine for which thou hast laboured: but they that have gathered it shall eat it, and praise the LORD; and they that have brought it together shall drink it in the courts of my sanctuary." (Isaiah 62:6-9)

The Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement advises the enemies of Israel, along with their allies and supporters all over the world, to read and to learn very carefully this Word of G‑d. Maybe, then, they will no more have illusions about again occupying and taking the Land of Israel from the People of G‑d.

Hasmonean Building Discovered in the City of David

The Hasmonean building was discovered at the top of the City of David in Jerusalem very near to the southern gates of the Holy Temple Mount. It is a large building of 64 sq. meters (689 sq. feet) with a height of 4 meters (13 feet). It was built according to other Hasmonean buildings in its style and system of construction. Inside the building was found many clay vessels. The big surprise was when the archaeologists found many coins that matched the exact period of the Hasmoneans.

This discovery from the Hasmonean period was like adding another link to the chain of Israel's history in the Holy Land of Israel, beginning when Abraham was sent by G‑d to this Land 4,000 years ago up until the present time when Israel is back in her own land and has control of Jerusalem. The find was also a physical appearance and a picture that confirms the historical descriptions written by the Jewish historian, Josephus Flavius, who lived in the first century CE.

This important discovery aroused great excitement and joy in Israel not only because it was discovered at Chanukah but also because, at the same time, it was a message to the entire world declaring to whom this Land belongs. It raised excitement also because G‑d unearthed this message at a crucial time when heavy pressure is coming on Israel from the entire world that denies that G‑d has given this Holy Land to Israel alone forever. Everyone in the world should know that here in the Holy Land of the G‑d and People of Israel, throughout thousands of years, there developed a monotheistic faith in the one true God Who created heaven and earth and the entire universe. More than this, through a unique and extraordinary event in the history of mankind — that of G‑d appearing before a nation, Israel — and through the wonderful cooperation between G‑d and His People Israel there developed a great biblical culture that embodied moral godly principles that were shared by Israel with all the world. Through this remarkable cooperation between Almighty G‑d and His People Israel the Word of G‑d in the Holy Bible has been transmitted to all mankind. It continues and will continue to affect all of humanity even more so in the near future. Everyone in the world should know also that this cooperation between G‑d and Israel will continue in the Holy Land of Israel until all of the end-time plans of G‑d are perfectly fulfilled and have come to pass, including the rebuilding of the Holy Temple of G‑d in Jerusalem, in the midst of His People Israel and the entire world exactly as it appears in Isaiah 2:1-4.

The Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement will continue to share with you more exciting discoveries in the near future. This article about the Chanukah discovery is sent to you because of its exciting significance to the present situation in the Land of Israel. The Temple Mount Faithful Movement will continue to encourage discoveries of the biblical history of Israel and its significance to our time. Then, the great biblical era of the past will become a great biblical reality in the present and in the future. Let us listen to what the G‑d of Israel says about this past, present, and future:

"Yet hear now, O Jacob My servant, and Israel whom I have chosen. Thus says the LORD who made you and formed you from the womb, who will help you: Fear not, O Jacob My servant; And you, Yeshurun, whom I have chosen. For I will pour water upon the thirsty land, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour My Spirit upon your descendants, and My blessing upon your offspring: and they will spring up as among the grass, like willows by the watercourses.... Remember these, O Jacob, and Israel; for you are My servant: I have formed you; you are My own servant: O Israel, you will not be forgotten by Me.... Sing, O heavens, for the LORD has done it! Shout, you lower parts of the earth; break forth into singing, you mountains, O forest, and every tree in it! For the LORD has redeemed Jacob, and glorified Himself in Israel.... Who confirms the word of His servant, and performs the counsel of His messengers; who says to Jerusalem, 'You shall be inhabited' and to the cities of Judah, 'They shall be rebuilt, and their ruins I will raise up." (Isaiah 44:1-4,21,23,26)
